Council Mission Statement

Established in 2022, the Weill Institute Diversity Council is committed to developing and sustaining a culture of belonging for Weill Institute members of all identities at all professional levels. Our mission is to empower members of the Weill Institute community and foster a culture of inclusion and equity that not only welcomes, but also celebrates all identities of its members. This goal shall be achieved by increasing the diversity of the Weill Institute, particularly with recruitment and retention of individuals who have been historically underrepresented in STEM, community building events, and the development of resources to advance the educational and professional experiences of Weill Institute members and the broader Cornell community.

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ’ (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ’ are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York State, and the United States of America.  We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ’ dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ’ people, past and present, to these lands and waters.
